YIN & RESTORATIVE YOGA

November 28, 9:30am-12:30pm
St. Timothy's Church

Yin Yoga offers a quality of practice that balances the yang of movement and activity. A series of 'held' poses that target the deep connective tissues, and the joints to bring about flexibility and regeneration. It is likend to having a needleless acupuncture session.

Restorative Yoga with the aid of props, offers support in the poses enabling the bodymind to drop into stillness so as to release and rest more deeply.

Fusion: Both practices are supported by Mindfulness which encourages awareness to deepen and expand. Clarity, direction and guidance are perceived as Insights Blossom.

L i g h t n e s s * f o l l o w s . . .

Reserve your Place with payment of $50 due by November 18.
$60 at the door.

This Workshop: A Fusion of Yin & Restorative Yoga would make a meaningful and experiential Holiday Gift for a Friend or Relative.
Share this with someone you Love.

Let me know of your interest to attend and also if you have any questions.

Sunday, Nov. 29: Details of the Holiday Brunch to follow soon.

Retreat at Yoga Weyr, Nanaimo
26-27 September
***
Fall Retreat at Harmony Dawn
2-4 October

The flickering movement of a butterfly’s wings is reminiscent of the constant fluctuations of the surface mind. However, just as the butterfly above silently alighted a leaf beside me and remained with wings open and in stillness for a prolonged time, we too have such propensity to come into a restive stillness.

This weekend Retreat offers an opportunity for intimacy with Self; through conscious practice and reflection. As you enter this sanctuary space you will immediately be drawn to the stillness and vitality of your soul essence.

Through Mindful Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Chant, Self-Inquiry you will naturally let go of the stresses you carry. As this transpires you will rest in the vibration of stillness which restores and heals at the deepest level.
Treat yourself to this restorative experience.

Nanaimo Retreat: For enquiries and to register go to http://www.yogaweyr.com/

Coburg Retreat:
After 6 years of Retreats at Novalis I now welcome you to our new Retreat venue at Harmony Dawn, located in Coburg - a 1 ½ hr drive NE of Toronto near Rice Lake . http://www.harmonydawn.com/

Retreat Feedback
Well, as I reflect on our past weekend together, I realize that I came away with renewed respect. Respect towards my Self! Respect for the "work" I have put in and the dedication it has taken to stay the course. … astounded … by how "fresh" every encounter and every session still is.

I realize that there is no "graduation" in this work. ... just a "gradual" growth and maturation. … - Realizing now that I chose in 1999 to live my life a new way; more fully, more authentically, more in the now. Realizing too that it takes a whole lifetime (at least!) to feel this growth.

With Respect, Gratitude and Love, Namaste Lucy

Registration: Coburg Retreat only
The Retreat starts on Friday at 7pm and ends on Sunday at 3pm.

Breathing Space

B r e a t h i n g * S p a c e

Day Retreat, Thursday, May 21, 9am-3pm

Desikachar has said that the purpose of Yoga Asana is to de-condition
the mind. Most of Yoga practice is about undoing, removing tension
and creating space.

Stillness and quiet awareness bring you into the moment. Successive conscious moments directed towards the breath allow the clearing of stagnant air and waste. Through the prana vayu nourishment is drawn in and through apana vayu elimination results. As conscious breathing and movement clear away the ‘debris’ a natural and balanced flow is restored. You regain the vitality of your

Rancho La Puerta - June 21-28
I am delighted to be teaching again at Rancho La Puerta this summer. My experiences there last year were extraordinary. Warmly welcomed by both staff and guests alike there was a profound meeting of heart and mind.

RLP is indeed an enriching sanctuary where body, mind and soul are cared for in a way that is deeply nurturing and inspiring.
I felt honoured to meet Deborah Szekeley, the co-founder who is a great living example of what healthy aging looks and feels like.
Phyllis Pilgrim, their program co-ordinator, though meeting for the first time felt to be someone I had always known. There is a natural atmosphere of kinship that infuses the Ranch.

This healing sanctuary offers a rich choice of workshops and programs which encourage reflection, relaxation and renewal. Add health conscious food as well as spa treatments to the mix and you are nourished all around. Surrounded by the embrace of nature you are called back to your senses and reconnected to the rhythm of your heart.

Quieting the Waves of Feeling

April 30 Weds. 9am - 3pm St. Timothy’s Church

Sadness, loneliness, frustration, anger and anxiety all carry their own unique expression. Whatthey appear to have in common is their power to consume.

YOGA and yogic understanding give us the opportunity to approach feelings in a constructive manner. Given that we can only change what we recognize, we begin with clear seeing. Looking spaciously into feelings, exploring them as direct sensation, can offer a means for both acknowledging the emotions without indulging them and encountering the emotions without drowning in them.

It is possible to explore the feelings as well as our reaction to them. These reactions are always based either in the memory of the past or in anxiety about the future. Standing firmly and spaciously in the present moment enables us to experience that change which only the conscious NOW offers.

Sutra 1:12 : By approach and detachment the movements still.

We will use Yogic Practices to venture into the realm of feeling feelings

Harmonizing the Breath

DAY RETREAT

Wednesday, Nov. 7, 9am-3pm St. Timothy’s Church

A Day to Pause and Breathe Organically

Conscious Breathing Mindful Yoga Guided Relaxation

That which is unconscious is neither able to recognize nor change itself.
Breath awareness offers a gateway to awakening. It is a bridge between
that which is unconscious and consciousness. It is also a bridge between
the inner and outer worlds. A shift towards healing is set in motion as prana
directs unconscious, blocked energy causing it to bubble towards surface
awareness. Guided by an organic breath, that which was formerly hidden is gradually revealed.

Transformation is birthed in the present moment.

Experience pranic flow, the Breath Body and a deeper sense of Self as you
delve within and discover the harmony of life that is ever present.

“During our yoga retreat we practised an "ahh" breath that gently caressed and nourished the throat and relieved deep stress in my body. The prana was just there, waiting for me to open, receive, to drink it in. I was reminded of these fledglings, mouths open and waiting. Any sound they hear, any rustling and their beaks open expectantly - trusting it is Mother with the food they need.” Joanne Johnson (quote & photo of fledglings)

Yoga Sadhana
Presented by Ann-Marie Ahye

"The practice and expression of yoga postures becomes truly effective when an inner awareness pervades," says Ann-Marie Ahye. "Awareness transforms unconscious breathing and movement into conscious experience, cultivating improved alignment, increased flexibility and enhanced vitality. Our nervous system is nourished and calmed, resulting in an overall feeling of strength and wellness. Steeped in stillness and silence, we experience pure Being - the fertile ground from which self-understanding grows."

Ann-Marie is a quietly passionate yoga and meditation teacher, inspired and transformed by 22 years of Yoga Sadhana. She credits her ability to teach the deeper meaning of yoga to her ongoing self-inquiry and experiential learning. Her inner quest was given momentum by an emotional crisis which led her from a career in architecture into a direct self-search. She says that in hindsight, her study of Practical Philosophy at the School of Economic Science in London gave her tools to creatively move through her experience. Additionally, she attended the Berkeley Psychic Institute where she gained further grounding in Meditation and Healing. She also credits "the vibrational energy of nature’s embrace in Trinidad and Tobago for bringing forward a quality of maturity and enhancing my experience of Presence."

Ann-Marie’s yoga teacher training in Toronto gave her a foundation in technique. She warmly infuses her craft with a harmonious blend of energy, which is both grounded and ethereal. The calm and relaxed atmosphere she shares encourages the restoring of balance to body, mind and heart. Ann-Marie lives and teaches yoga and meditation in Toronto. She leads workshops and retreats in Toronto and Tobago. She also practices energy balancing and has recorded a guided relaxation CD, Travelling Inward.

Nature's Restorative Power

This summer one of the places I was blessed to visit was Yosemite. You can feel from this scene just how immeasurable is Nature's Power to Restore the Soul.

May this glimpse of Nature's majesty and delight remind you that you too are Nature and carry within you the same immeasurable power to restore and bring sanctity to your own Soul.

Tobago Retreat August 2006

KARIWAK, Tobago W.I.
August 2006

From the moment that we sat as a group in the ajoupa, I felt that everything that would come from the Retreat was already given. The potency of a Divine presence was energetically felt.

There was a deep stillness, peace and ease that was palpable and all this before "doing" any work. I guess it's Grace.

Grace was offered...

We came together through the course of five days to share a conscious practice including yoga postures, breath awareness, chanting and guided relaxation. This, only to allow our physicality to experience what we had already received at a soul level.

It was as though our bodies and personalities needed to catch up. In a way we were obliged to participate. The truth was that no outward movement was actually necessary. We had already received through the authenticity of our intent.

Those present felt a sacred transmission.

I radiate this Blessing to all of you.

Loving Kindness
